Similar to Russian Red, this variety was introduced by Doukhobor immigrants fleeing religious persecution in Russia in the late 1800's. This garlic starts off hot and ends with a lingering sweetness. Raw, it packs a punch, but the flavor is outstanding. It's also good cooked or baked, and holds its flavor.
